Business Visas

There are many business visa options for business people to select from, when considering either travel or immigration to Australia. Whether you are seeking a temporary business visa to allow you to attend business meetings or a conference, or are looking to immigrate to Australia and establish or buy into a business Intergate will be able to help.

If you would like to read more about the main options, the starting point is whether the immigration is of a temporary nature or that of a permanent one. Please note the common route is to obtain a provisional business visa which can subsequently allow you to make an application for a permanent stay, however very successful business people, with reasonably high net worth and business turnover, may opt to go straight for permanent residency.

If you are seeking a temporary business visa that can provide a pathway to permanent residency

The Business Owner Provisional (subclass 160) Visa allows for ownership and part ownership of an Australian business.

The applicant (and partner) need to have legally acquired total net assets in excess of AUD 800,000. Such assets need to be capable of being transferred to Australia within 2 years. In addition to the above, further funds of at least AUD 100,000 are required for settlement purposes.
There are also minimum levels of business assets and turnover.

If you have sponsorship by a territory or region in Australia?

The main difference between the sponsored visa option and the provisional visa is that applicants for the Business Owner Sponsorship (subclass 163) Visa must be sponsored by an appropriate Regional Authority of a State or Territory Government. In addition some of the criteria around your business turnover and net wealth are not so high.

If you are seeking a business visa that can provide a pathway to permanent residency immediately

Applicants must be owners or part owners of an overseas business and also have state or territory sponsorship. They must be able to show an annual turnover in their business (or two main businesses combined) of at least AUD 3,000,000 in at least two of the four years prior to the application and a net wealth of an excess of AUD 1,500,000 that can be transferred to Australia in the next two years.

For business travellers the below visa's may be applied for:

  • E Visitor (for citizens of certain countries that cannot apply under the ETA)
