If you would like to read more about the main options, the first step is to decide whether the immigration is of a temporary nature or of a permanent nature. Please note that the common route is to obtain a provisional business visa so that you may become eligible to apply for permanent residency. However very successful business people with a reasonably high net worth and business turnover may opt to go straight for permanent residency.

If you are seeking a temporary business visa that can provide a pathway to permanent residency

The Investor (Provisional) Visa (Subclass 162) allows for investor applicants under the age of 45 who have a successful business or investment career and wish to invest or be involved in an Australian business.

If you have sponsorship by a territory or region of Australia?

The State / Territory Sponsored Investor Visa (Subclass 165) allows investor applicants under the age of 55 who have a successful business or investment career and wish to invest or be involved in an Australian business. The main differences between the provisional investor visa and this the sponsored visa are that a suitable state or territory must be sponsoring the applicant, the age restriction is 55 years of age and the financial requirements are less severe.

The main difference between the sponsored and the sponsored is that applicants for the Business Owner Sponsorship (subclass 163) Visa must be sponsored by an appropriate regional authority of a State or Territory Government. In addition some of the criteria around your previous business and networth are not so high.

If you are seeking a temporary visa for retirement purposes

The Investor Retirement Visa (Subclass 405) allows for investor retirement applicants (age 55 and older) who meet certain financial requirements and have no dependents. The Investor Retirement Visa (Subclass 405) is a temporary visa that is issued for a period of 4 years. The visa can subsequently be extended for a period of another 4 years if the criteria is met.
