Hermanus - General Description
Hermanus is a one hour drive out of Cape Town. Situated on the coast line of Walker Bay and surrounded by mountains rich in indigenous fynbos. Hermanus is known as the heart of the whale route, with a cliff walk hugging the coast line stretching from the one side of the town to the other, 12km in total, providing the best land based whale watching, with the whales just 20m away in the bay. Hermanus is a seaside resort but 50% of the population live there all year round. The properties range from apartments, to huge homes on large plots, some with fabulous views. There has been a lot of new development in the outer areas of Hermanus.

The Fernkloof Farmers Market held every Saturday, has home grown organic produce on sale. The Robinson wine route is just over the mountains from Hermanus.

Protected by the surrounding mountains, the summers are hot perfect beach weather, the winters can be wild with the wind blowing around the cliff edge and heavy rain falls.
