For applicants over 17 years of age who have have a grandparent born in the UK or Republic Of Ireland (prior to 31st March 1992). Applicants need to be able to demonstrate they are able to and intend to work in the UK.
Partner Visas
The UK offers 4 types of partner visa; married, un-married, same sex and fiancée. Partner visas allow you to work and can lead to indefinite leave to remain in the UK.
Tier 1 Visa
Previously known as the highly skilled migrant visa. The Tier 1 Visa can be granted to individuals without the need for a job offer.
Tier 2 Visa
Tier 2 Visas are aimed at allowing the UK to accept migrant applications for work visas that will help to fill shortages in the UK labour market. A confirmed job offer is required.
Youth Mobility
Previously known as a working holiday visas. The Youth Mobility Scheme is only available to those who have citizenship of a country with a reciprocal agreement in place.
Tourist Visa
For those thinking of going to the UK on holiday or on a business trip, certain nationalities require tourist visa to be obtained prior to entry into the UK.
Same-sex / Civil Partner UK Visas allow a non European or non UK national to come to the UK and settle with their partner (who is a national of the European Economic area or UK). A civil partnership is the equivalent of a civil marriage and hence the legal treatment is very similar to that of an opposite sex marriage.
Applications can be made by individuals who are in a same sex relationship whereby the partner is a national of The European Economic Area or the United Kingdom. Couples must have been living together for 2 years in a relationship similar to a civil partnership or civil marriage.
To successfully apply for a Same-Sex / Civil Partner UK Visa both the applicant and sponsor (UK or European national) need to have attained the age of 18.
Proof supporting your application for a Same-Sex / Civil Partner UK Visa may include:
documents showing joint commitments, such as bank accounts, investments, rent agreements or mortgages, and
letters linking you to the same address, and official records (such as a gas or electricity bill or proof of your rent or mortgage arrangements) of your address
The amount of time the Same-Sex / Civil Partner UK Visa is issued for is dependent on how long the visa is issued for.
If the civil partnership is under 4 years an initial two year probationary visa is issued. Assuming the relationship is still valid after this initial two years an application can be made for indefinite leave to remain.
For civil partnerships of 4 years and more, an application can be made for indefinite leave to remain immediately.
Applicants must have met their civil partners and be in a monogamous relationship in order to make an application for a Same-Sex / Civil Partner UK Visa. It must also be the intention to live together and establish a permanent home.
