Are you sure you’re applying for the correct South African visa?

South African Visa

Did that question catch your attention? It should!

Immigrating is not an easy task. It demands a lot of time, energy and money. You have to be sure that you’re applying for the correct South African visa before you submit your application. If not, you’ll waste your efforts and hard-earned savings.

Let us explain…

You could make the visa application on your own – but is it worth it?

Trying to make sense of the different South African visas and their requirements is no easy task. Ask any of our clients who tried to do this on their own before contacting us!

While it’s not mandatory to enlist the services of an immigration agent, we strongly suggest that you do. It’s often the difference between a smooth immigration process or a very bumpy and stressful application process.

The immigration agent will be able to explain the various categories of visas to you, outline the options you are eligible for, as well as outline the processes so you know what to expect.

How do I know my immigration agent is credible?

Unfortunately South African immigration agents do not have to be licensed, so there are no laws governing them.

But it is a good sign if your immigration agent takes the time to ask you detailed questions about your personal circumstances to assess your situation thoroughly. This as opposed to an agent who only asks one or two questions before suggesting a visa.

You must also read testimonials and reviews  on the agent or company’s website and social media accounts. Look for industry affiliations too and see if you perhaps know someone who’s used their services that you could talk to.

What are the dangers of submitting an application for the incorrect South African visa?

The biggest danger is that your application will get rejected. As stated earlier, this means a lot of time, energy and money going down the proverbial drain.

It will also mean that you have to either appeal, if possible, or start a brand new application all over again. In both instances, this means even more money, time and energy!

You might also lose your job offer, if you’re applying for a work visa. It could seriously upset family life too and derail immigration plans and timelines.

Do not rely on advice you get from VFS!

VFS is a visa facilitation centre. Their job, in a nutshell, is to take your documents, send it to Home Affairs Head Office or the Embassy, receive it back and return it the outcome to you.

Often though, we hear of VFS agents giving advice to visa applicants. Do not take this advice at face value! They are simply not trained or experience in immigration law. They are merely there to facilitate submission of your paperwork. Always check with your immigration agent on any advice or suggestions given by VFS agents.

The last thing you want is to take the wrong advice and submit an application with the incorrect documents or information. Trust us, we have heard horror stories for individuals who have done this and have come to us for damage control. You obviously do not want to find yourself in this position!
