Are you sure the South African visa you’re applying for is the correct one?

south african visaImmigrating is not an easy task. It demands a lot of time, energy and of course – money.

That’s why you want to be sure that you are applying for the correct South African visa.

If not, you’ll waste your efforts and hard-earned savings.

Should I get the help of an immigration agent?

There is nothing that says you should enlist the services of an immigration agent, but we strongly suggest that you do.

Trying to figure out the different South Africans on your own could become a nightmare very quickly!

The immigration agent will be able to explain the various categories of visas to you.

How do I know my immigration agent is credible?

Unfortunately South African immigration agents do not have be licensed, so there are now laws governing them.

But a good sign that your immigration agent is credible, is if they assess your situation carefully. This as opposed to suggesting a South African visa without asking detailed questions about your situation.

The assessment will allow the immigration agent to tell whether you need, for example, a spouse or life partner visa.

Other than this, you can ask or check whether your immigration agent has been tested by the Department of Home Affairs. Another good idea is to do a background check.

What are the dangers of submitting an application for the incorrect South African visa?

The biggest danger is that your application will get rejected. As stated earlier, this means a lot of time, energy and money going doing the proverbial drain.

It will also mean that you have to either appeal, if possible, or start a brand-new application all over again. In both instances, this means even more money, time and energy!

You might also lose your job offer, if you’re applying for a work visa. It could seriously upset family life too and derail immigration plans.

A note on VFS…

VFS is a visa facilitation centre. Their job – in a nutshell – is to take your documents, send it to Home Affairs, receive it back and return it to you.

Often though we hear of VFS agents giving advice to visa applicants. Do not take this advice at face value! Always check with your immigration agent on any advice or suggestions given by VFS agents.

The last thing you want is to take the wrong advice and submit an application with the incorrect documents or information.
