Foreign students get a relief on their Appeal Applications

Those foreign students who have Appeal Applications pending-please read the below press release by the Department of Home Affairs- there is a provision for you, until the end of April 2015
See below:
“Dear Dr Jeffrey Mabelebele

REGISTRATION OF STUDENTS WHO HAVE PENDING VISA APPLICATIONS WITH THE DEPARTMENT OF HOME AFFAIRS
The Department of Home Affairs has since become aware of a significant number of students whose applications for a study visa were rejected because of incomplete supporting documents. The majority of these applicants did not have a South African Police Clearance Certificate as required by regulation 12(1)(d)

Feedback received from the students is that they could not produce the police Clearance Certificate
either because the South African Police Services took longer to issue them or that when issued, the document was stuck at the Postal Office because of the protracted strike.

The Department has decided to provide a relief to those students who currently have Appeal applications pending on their study visas.

The universities are advised to accept students who have pending appeals with the Department of Home Affairs to register with their proof of application that was made at Visa Facilitation Centers of VFS, A list of such students should be made available to Mrs Seipati Ditsoane who can be reached at 076 718 0762 or seipati.ditsoane@dha.gov.za On the receipt of the list the Department will advise the university on the progress of the application and the excepted date of finalization.

This provision is only valid until the 30th of April 2015

Regards
MKUSELI APLENI
DIRECTOR-GENERAL”
